Initiated by the institutions of the European Union, this major public consultation aims to give a voice to citizens by allowing them to express themselves on what they expect from the European Union in terms of deepening democracy, energy and digital transition, health, etc.
Launched in Strasbourg, seat of the European Parliament, on May 9, the Conference on the Future of Europe will allow everyone, throughout Europe, to exchange and share ideas and contribute to the definition of our common future.
Discussions, conferences and other events will take place until spring 2022, when the first conclusions will be delivered.
The official launch of the Conference, on Sunday, May 9 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, with speeches by Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, David Sassoli, President of the European Parliament, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, Antonio Costa, Prime Minister of Portugal and President of the Council of the European Union, as well as citizen panels, will be broadcasted live in webstreaming.
Prior to the event, from 11:00 to 13:00, the Committee of the Regions, French local and regional authorities, the French Government and the European Commission are also organizing an online event in Strasbourg to affirm the territorial and local dimension of European construction, in the presence of Jeanne Barseghian, Mayor of Strasbourg.
