Raise awareness
Introduce visitors to the institutions based in Strasbourg, such as the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and the European Court of Human Rights
A visit to the European Quarter is an opportunity to discover Strasbourg’s three largest European institutions: the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Parliament. On this guided tour, pay attention to the architecture of the buildings, which reveals the role and functioning of the institutions they house.
There are a few places to sit along the route, but most of the route we take requires participants to stand. In the event of rain or hot weather, bring appropriate clothing and water.

In December 2015, the Strasbourg’s European quarter was awarded the European Heritage Label. Established in 2011 by the European Commission, this label highlights monuments, natural or urban sites, places of remembrance and intangible cultural assets that bear witness to the history of Europe or European integration.
Objectives and ambitions of the Label
Enhancing the European dimension: highlighting the symbolic value of heritage elements for the history and culture of Europe
Encouraging cultural belonging: strengthening citizens’ knowledge of and attachment to a shared culture, while showcasing its richness and diversity
Strengthening European identity: encouraging a sense of shared values among citizens
Lieu d’Europe is the driving force behind the European quarter. As a key player in disseminating and promoting the values associated with the Label, it helps nurture closer ties between citizens and the European institutions.
